The Costa Rican Kidney Foundation (FUNCORE) was founded in March 2004 with a goal of integrating both the hemodialysis and transplant patients and persons who may suffer any type of kidney failure.

Para estos efectos se reunieron los esfuerzos de representantes de las organizaciones de Pacientes Transplantados y Hemodiálisis de los Hospitales Calderón Guardia, México y San Juan de Dios.To this end, efforts met representatives of organizations of transplant patients and hemodialysis Hospital Calderon Guardia, Mexico and San Juan de Dios.

Sus miembros fundadores han venido trabajando en la consolidación de este proyecto desde hace diez años aproximadamente. Its founding members have been working to consolidate this project for ten years or so.

Esta organización reúne a más de 100 pacientes trasplantadas de riñón, del total de 850 que existen hasta la fecha en el país.  
This organization brings together more than 100 kidney transplanted patients, the total of 850 that exist to date in the country.

Su principal objetivo es velar por una mejor calidad de vida para el paciente y ha definido como objetivos específicos los siguienteIts main objective is to ensure a better quality of life for patients and identified the following specific objectives:

1. Velar por la calidad de vida de los pacientes renales, garantizando un buen trato médico y el suministro de medicamentos de calidad reconocida y  el   derecho al Consentimiento Informado. Ensuring the quality of life of kidney patients, ensuring good medical treatment and drug supply of known quality and the right to informed consent.
2. Fomentar la cooperación interinstitucional para promover acciones conjuntas en beneficio de los pacientes y de  los costarricenses en  general. Encourage interagency cooperation to promote joint action for the benefit of patients and the Costa Ricans in general.
3. Vigilar por el adecuado cumplimiento de los derechos del paciente, como personas   con discapacidad, relacionados pero no limitados, a los servicios que estos reciban por parte de la CCSS y cualquier otra institución o ente gubernamental. Monitor the proper implementation of patient rights, as persons with disabilities, related but not limited to, the services they receive by the CCSS and any other institution or government agency.
4. Educar mediante campañas u otros medios a la población costarricense, a fin de lograr un proceso de sensibilización respecto de la donación de órganos. Educate through media campaigns and other Costa Ricans to achieve a process of awareness of organ donation.

9. Promover el desarrollo de programas para la capacitación del paciente y sus familiares. Promote the development of training programs for patients and their families.

* Recibir información precisa y clara  sobre  la realidad de su estado de salud, así como de las implicaciones de las diferentes alternativas de tratamiento a que  podría ser sometido, de tal modo que pueda adoptar la decisión  que mejor se  ajuste a sus deseos oa sus convicciones en  forma totalmente libre y voluntaria. * Receive accurate and clear information about the reality of their health status and the implications of different treatment options that could be submitted, so as to make the determination that best suits their desires or convictions in a completely free and voluntary. Este derecho el de ser informado, sin manipulado, si lo solicite el  paciente por cualquier medio, de la  razón de toda  medida diagnóstica o This right to be informed, not manipulated, if requested by the patient by any means, of the reason for any action or diagnostic.

• Tener acceso, en caso de duda, a una segunda  opinión de otro médico de la Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social, antes de autorizar tratamientos, intervenciones quirúrgicas o procedimientos médicos de cualquier tipo. Access in case of doubt, a second opinion from another doctor of the Costa Rican Social Security, before authorizing treatment, surgical or medical procedures of any kind.
• Decidir libremente sin ningún tipo de  coacción o condicionamiento, su participación como sujeto pasivo en investigaciones clínicas o terapéuticas. Decide freely without any coercion or conditioning its participation as a passive subject in clinical research or therapeutic.

* Infórmese con su médico, haga valer sus derechos… pregúntele a su médico. * Check with your doctor, to pursue their claims ... ask your doctor.

* Edúquese para vivir con calidad de vida. * Educate yourself to live with quality of life.

*Conozca el nombre genérico  y de   de  marca del medicamento que a  usted le prescribe el médico. * Know the name and generic brands of medication that the doctor prescribes you.

* No permita que le cambien su tratamiento sin su derecho al   Consentimiento Informado. * Do not let anyone change their treatment without their right to informed consent.

*  Cuide su dieta haga   ejercicio. * Watch your diet to exercise.

* Sea solidario con sus compañeros(as)  porque  unidos seremos y estaremos mejor. * Be supportive of his partner (s) because we will be united and we will be better.

* Únase a luchar por  mejor calidad de vida para  todos. * Join the fight for better quality of life for all.

* Evite fumar y tomar licor. * Avoid smoking and drinking liquor.

* Tome sus medicamentos de acuerdo a sus indicaciones. * Take your medicines according to your instructions.

Usted es lo más importante en su vida. You are the most important in your life.

1Ninguna persona será sometida a  tortura u otros tratos o penas crueles, inhumanas o degradantes.  En particular, nadie será sometido a experimentos médicos o  científicos sin su Consentimiento Libre e Informado. 1Ninguna one shall be subjected to torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment. UNA REFLEXION SOBRE LA SOLIDARIDAD. A reflection on solidarity
 

La sociedad como un conjunto de fuerzas no nos  sitúa  como un fin, sino como una-norma de los individuos. Society as a set of forces makes us not an end but as a "rule of individuals.

El individuo como tal no tiene fuerza, los hechos sociales tienen una fuerza de  coerción que se imponen al individuo, ((según una interpretación de Piaget de Lucien Goldman). Por eso la necesidad de actuar en organizados como grupo. The individual as such has no power, social facts have the force of coercion imposed on the individual, ((as an interpretation of Piaget's Lucien Goldman). Hence the need to act as a group organized.

Los individuos tienen que estar   actuar juntos en sociedad porque cada uno asilado es incapaz de vivir y desarrollarse. Individuals must be acting together in partnership because each refugee is unable to live and develop. No se debe pensar  n los propios intereses individuales, sino en las necesidades de los otros, sus familias, sus hijos, su propia existencia.  El beneficio tiene que  ver conmigo mismo, bienestar/beneficio, pero se trata a la vez de  una  utilidad  para el bien de todos, pues soy parte de  ese todos. The benefit has to do with myself, welfare-benefit, but it is both a useful the good of all, because I am part of this all.
